The conference call...
.. went well, lasted for a little over an hour. The director has a basic idea for the story, but it is in dire need of fleshing out and being structured. Guess that's what I'm for, huh? They've asked for a treatment. There are 2 other writers they've asked for a treatment. There IS pay for the script. We have not talked numbers. If my treatment is greeted with huzzahs (instead of wails of protest and rending of cloth), then I'll be looking for an agent or entertainment attorney to do that part for me. I'm doing research on the Islamic faith, and I'm trying to come up with the story. Which involves lots of staring into space and letting my mind do it's thing. We'll see what it spits out... there's no telling.

Congrats! Hope everything works out for you.
Thanks, CW! I'll let ya know how it goes!
Hey WG, congrats!!!! I hope it goes well.
You might already have this link, but after 9/11 I did get interested in the mind set of Muslims, and found this site.
http://islam.tc/ask-imam/index.php
Muslims ask questions of an online Imam. Very interesting reading.
Also, just as a point of interest in regards to this subject, I saw a doco on moderate Muslims, and the husband brought up the best point I have heard so far, and I fully admit I have been guilty of this myself.
He asked, why should he apologise for something he did not do. It really struck home with me. It finally got through that fog of anger of imagining families on those planes being driven into buildings and fields.
I was raised Anglican, (but am not practicing), should I have to go around apologising for the way some priests treated children, etc. No, and I think that behaviour is despicable, and on par with terrorism in its level of revulsion.
Best of luck with it WG, I do hope your treatment comes out a winner!
cheers
Dave.
Dave,
Thanks for the link. I don't think I've seen that one but you know I've looked at quite a few Islamic sites in teh last 10 days or so and damn if one doesn't begin to resemble another!
I've decided to ignore the more radical aspects of Islam and try to find some commmonality with Christians. Tall order, I know but I think it can be done.
We'll see, won't we? Thanks for the well wishes!
I think that is a great idea to look at it that way. Going with that thought, the mundane things are what amazed me about that site, and the questions raised by them.
With Christianity you have the ten commandments, and basicially if you follow them you have pretty good odds of saying g'day to St Pete one day, and maybe only doing purgatory on weekend detention or something, for the good times you had.
From the questions raised by the Muslims on the site, it seems as though their religion permeates every last little bit of their life, and their are rules to follow for everything. Seriously, after reading some of those questions, I knew I could never convert, I would never pass the test. ;-)
Have fun with it, would be an interesting exercise.
cheers
Dave.
